FACT Award winning NIRI’s Chef Omaka opens a supper club in Dubai

The Seasons experience showcases modern African cuisine.

Dubai is filled with sensational supper clubs. Now, it is set to welcome one more, thanks to Chef Omaka Marie from NIRI Restaurant & Bar which was named ‘Restaurant of the Year‘ at the FACT Dining Awards Abu Dhabi 2023. The Seasons bills itself as being created by tastemakers for tastemakers. So, if you’re after a different dining experience, here’s what you need to know.

The Seasons in Dubai is a celebration of modern African cuisine and culture. The experience serves as a test kitchen for African chefs. One of the concepts being developed is IRU, which sees Chef Omaka create a fusion of Afro-Japanese flavours. In Japanese, iru means “to be”, and it is also the name of a popular West African ingredient.

From 23 to 26 May, The Seasons will run The Ancestral Homecoming, which showcases Neo-African cuisine. The six-course tasting menu blends African and Japanese flavours and traditions, and it is paired with a selection of South African, Italian, and French wines by a sommelier.

The Seasons experience aims to bring together culture and community. Chef Omaka gives new life to the African storytelling tradition and starts each dining experience with stories drawn from her roots in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Chef Omaka will also bring the heat to Le Guepard in Al Quoz with The Flavour Pilgrim supper club on 24 and 25 May, offering a five-course journey through the heart of Asia and into the depths of Africa

The Flavour Pilgrim by The Seasons will take you on a captivating 5-course journey through the heart of Asia and into the depths of Africa, blending the essence of both continents in a unique Afro-Japanese dining experience.

Chef Omaka has previously worked at Zuma and is currently Sous Chef at NIRI Restaurant & Bar. Located in Mamsha Al Saadiyat, the restaurant is close to Louvre Abu Dhabi. The concept offers a Japanese izakaya menu and includes sushi, sake and unexpected delights. The dishes include Asari Sakasmushi, Miso Marinated Black Cod and Softshell Crab.
